A program was organized by the Nature Club to celebrate Wetland Day on the lake at Damka (Hajira), where more than 150 birds have been recorded. Chief Conservator of Forests of Forest Department Mr. Shashikumar, Mrs. Meenalben Sawant (IFS), Mr. Nitin Bhai Varmora (RFO) and Sarpanch of Damka Village Mr. Tulsibhai Patel and members of Nature Club Surat were present in this program.

A new booklet on “Urban Biodiversity” by Nature Club was published by Mr. Sasikumar. Certificates and prizes were given to the winners of drawing and photography competitions. A new mobile application of the club was also launched. On this occasion, Mr. Sasikumar assured that the Forest Department would get full cooperation for the Damka Lake to be protected by the Nature Club as well as the Gaviar Lake.

Mr. Snehal Patel thanked the forest department and said that Damka lake is currently unprotected so there is a dire need for its conservation, but with the cooperation of Surat forest department and the collector office, nature club will also protect Damka lake and this is also similar to Gavier lake. Nature Club Surat will make all efforts for this.
